Evaluation of Trailer Remake

Peers thoughts on my trailer remake

Remake of Hulk trailer

TASK recreating a trailer

TASK

My next task has been to recreate a trailer that is present within the industry. I have searched around at many different trailers and come to a conclusion. I have decided that I create a teaser trailer because my cast will have to be kept to a minimum. This because I want to film it this weekend (which is short notice to ask for actors) and have it edited by next so I can get on to creating my own film trailer. Therefore, I have chosen to recreate the teaser trailer for the Hulk, previewed in 2003. The film I aim to recreate is previewed below.

This trailer involves one actor but a series of different shots. The trailer uses a lot of edit and to make this easier for myself i have come up to a conclusion myself, as the director. The house that has to get smashed at the end will obviously be hard to do. Therefore, I have decided upon using a toy house which I can then kick over at the end of the filming, to represent the Hulk who is evidently destroying the house with his strength and anger. The way the actor turns from skin colour to bright green will be don gradually using green face paint.

ACTOR:
I have managed to cast my actor to play 'Hulk'. Casting your film is a very important part of the film production because it can target a range of different audiences. In this trailer the actor is a young man, who looks innocent and nice, which then differences with his later appearance as a Hulk.
Therefore I have chosen upon using the following male as my actor...

Name: Lee Brewer
Age: 18

My own created film poster

This is my very own created teaser film poster. I used photoshop to help me create the image that centralizes the poster. It fulfills my film idea because it introduces the main character, the title and states when the film will be released.

Film Teaser Posters Research

What makes a Good or Bad film poster?

Film Poster Research

What is a film poster?

A Film poster is the poster, which is designed to advertise the companies film. The Poster should advertise the release of the film and attract audiences to want to come and watch it. The posters normally convey the genre of the film and have some introduction to the characters. The poster should make the film's name title visible for audiences to remember. Film posters could also include short slogans that advertise the story-line of the film to again attract its target audience. Film posters should be displayed where they can be seen and heard of by the public, for example the cinema normally have film posters situated outside. These posters are of films coming into and currently playing at the particular cinema.

Whats in a trailer?

Through my research I can now identify what differs a good trailer from a bad one, aswell as what a trailer must actually include.

LAST VEGAS TEASER TRAILER

The beginning shot divides the screen into three, introducing the audience to the three main characters. They are of similar importance wthin the film but the shot that the other man gets alone shows he is more important within the films story-line.
The music that plays is quite modern and street like, juxstaposing the slightly older generation which were seen as main characters at the beginning. This could therefore hint at the films genre to be of a comedy. This music links then to the scene of a party/rave, where it is full of young people and then the elderly men also attend. Reinforcing the comedy side to the film. The trailer also then shows quick shots of the men up against a young boy, hinting that they will also appear within the film. The man speaks 'we shall party like its 1979' after these photos are shown showing that the men are to relive their  childhood. The company has chosen deliberately to show the man getting pushed into the pool to target their target audience to adults who may enjoy humour and comedy within a film. The male audience have also been tackled to target by the campany by the shown scene of young females.
At the end of the trailer they have put the title reading 'it's going to be legendary' which targets the audience and attracts them to come and watch the film.

AURORA : Theatrical Trailer

Aurora's film trailer is a teaser trailer. It is only 1.18 minutes long and begins with the introduction to the company who have produced and made the film. When the trailer is played also dramatic music is played, to create a dramatic and adventurous feel to the film. It introduces the film to its genre as a drama or adventure because the music suggests that something will happen. The music creates suspension from the beginning and the weather shown in the clips also again hints at the genre. Attracting the companies target audience. The thunder and rain also hint at the trouble that may occur in the film an how someone may end in danger. Each scene which is played is of dark and grey colours, which reinforces the idea of a dramatic film which leads people into danger.
We also see the fantasy side to the film with the sound of robots at the beginning. These sounds are purposely played at the beginning of the trailer so that we as an audience watch on to see wether or not these sounds were coming from real robots or the humans within the film. Later on we are then shown several shots and scenes that include rather large machinery and robots. The trailer also introduces the audience to the place the film is set in. This is done within a 3 second shot of the famous New York landscape.
This trailer introduces the audience to three characters, focusing mainly on a girl and a boy, questioning the idea of romance within the film. Titles are played at the end of the trailer, to each title there is an added sound effect of a 'BOOM' an addition to the dramatic, adventurous style of the film.

Theatrical Trailer

Insidious Chapter 2: (Theatrical Trailer)

This theatrical trailer begins with sad music making it sound like something bad will occur in the film which may possibly evoke emotion. However, this music also sounds quite child-like, and then later on within the trailer in several film scenes shown their is a cradle twinkling sound. This shows not only that the danger would/could involve a young child but that sound is also linked to horror and scare. The first title we are shown is 'IT BEGAN TWO YEARS AGO' already providing us with the information that the film will be set in the past or include a possible flashback'. The event being referred to as an 'IT' also suggests that it is something negative and not liked to be remembered. The scenes that are cut together mostly show the woman as scared suggesting this film is a horror and to be scary. The music also adds to the effect and creates a nervous atmosphere for the audience.
Each shot is shown cleverly, by the chronological look of the trailer. At the beginning we see a happy family and learn that 'nothing will hurt them now' showing they have had possible problems in the past. As the trailer goes on we are introduced to the scary, horror side of the film. We see scenes where the women is getting scared, the music turns more threatening and spooky, as well as this scenes begin to include skull heads and games associated with witchcraft and ghosts. This makes the audience want to watch the film because we want to find out what happens to the family and how they overcome their problems. At the end the scenes cut more into each other and are played more quickly. The scenes overlap each other to show the tension building in the film and characters. The title of the film is introduced to us at the end so it stays in the audience mind and it is known by all.

Theatrical Trailer

Monsters University

This trailer is the theatrical trailer for Monsters Inc University. The trailer is relatively long, running at a full 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It provides an introduction to mostly all characters, especially the main characters Sully and Mike. A mix up of scenes are shown from the film and it is not in the order they would be shown in. The trailer provides a short understanding at what the film is about and it's plot. It has a change of music and shows a twist in the story but not how it is resolved. This is made for the purpose of audiences because they will then want to watch it to see what happens. The trailer involves several slides of just text which make the film sound exciting and adventurous, making the audience want to watch the film even more. At the end of the trailer they show is release date so that the audience  can plan to go and see it. This is mostly always put at the end of a theatrical trailer so that  the audiences watch the full trailer to find out when it comes out. The trailer also involves many humorous scenes to show entertainment and let the audience know that they will enjoy the film.
