Chosen Genre Mood-Board

I decided to create and research more into a Romantic Drama because my research into genres did not match the one we chose for our final film. The reason we chose this genre was because we liked both aspects from the Romantic-Comedy genre and the drama. The comedy would be very hard for us to portray but the romance we were interested in with twisting plots with a dramatic intention.
From this Mood-Board I researched into what are the main features of a Romantic-Drama film. I looked at films on the market already as well as some of the symbols stereotyped with a Romantic-Drama. Therefore for the dramatic side their could be twists such as car crashes, floods, hurricanes, tornados or even plane crashes. But these are juxtaposed with an emerging romantic chemistry emerging between characters which alert an audience to the dramatic event.

IDEA 3

After a late night out with her friends, getting drunk and joking around a young girl hurls a taxi down. As she stumbles about in her stiletto heels she falls off the side of the pavement, into the road. Being knocked down by a car.
She finally comes around in the the hospital after months and months of being in and out of consciousness. The family are over joyed with happiness, with greetings from her husband, sister, mum and dad. However, there is one problem. She cannot remember most of her life, her only recognition from life is her life when she was 18 and under. She remembers certain names of girl friends she was so close to and unfortunately she does not remembering even meeting her 'husband' let alone marrying him. The family do not understand and the hospital fill them in in the life threatening brain injury she has suffered. Her husband agrees to take her home to 'their' home. When she enters she sees pictures of her self, happy and overjoyed. This hints her and the frustration of not being able to remember things. She uses her phone to text a friend she remembered, not knowing that she had fallen out with her years ago. As the film goes on she agrees with her husband it will be better to stay at her family home where she remembers familiar faces. She begins going for a coffee every morning before work and spends more and more time with this man who also does the same. The story begins to conclude as she falls in love with this mystery man, and out of love with her husband. The divorce as she agrees she does not remember every loving him, her family force her to stay with him in the hope she may remember everything however, she thinks it will be better for her to create a new life. She ends up being friends with both her new girlfriends she had made in her unremembered life as well as those she had lost contacts with for so many years whilst she'd been married. After she begins to start a new life with her new boyfriend she finds out she suffers major stomach cramps. As she is rushed to hospital she is told that she has been pregnant this whole time and because of the crash the baby is due and could be serverly disabled. This baby is her and her husbands. The baby is born and put straight onto life support. Fortunately the baby lives and she falls back into love with her husband, her boyfriend disappears of sight and the family settle down to recreate their past life together.

IDEA 2

A high powered lawyer is living her life to the max when one day a simple mistake sees her whole life shattered before her eyes. As she goes about her normal routine one day at work she realises a mistake on the system, an error that could cause the whole company to go bust. She tells many people about the error and insists they find out who has caused the problem. When she returns to her own desk she flicks through all her documents, then suddenly it comes to her she has missed a file out. If she hadn't of missed the file out the mistake would not have happened. She sees it as all her fault. Out of horror she sends an e-mail to the boss to explain what she has done, gets up and leaves the office. She returns home collects a few stuff and decides that no one will want to know her anymore, not even her boyfriend who is the bosses PA. She leaves on a train to nowhere, not knowing when she will return or where she will end up. She gets off the train in the countryside, walking miles and miles up a long road past several houses. As she starts to lose her patience finding a hotel; she is now starting to get bursting for the toilet. She knocks on the door of a house, and politely starts to ask if she would be able to use their toilet. However, the couple at the door are also expecting the arrival of a young woman. They automatically assume she is the woman they have been waiting for and show no interest in what she is saying. They greet her and ask her inside. She explains that all she wants is to use the toilet but they are too engrossed in talking about a housekeeper they have been expecting and it suddenly dawns on her that they are thinking she is their newest housekeeper. With no energy to argue they show her the house and her room.

Her conscience beats her heart that tells her to go home and stop being stupid, but she thinks that in the morning she will explain but for tonight she will sleep her. So she does so. Waking up the next morning to a whole new life, she agrees for maybe the next week she will pretend to be the housekeeper whilst she decides what to do with her life. This then leads to months, she knows not how to cook or to wash or even how to make a bed. She has to learn. The couple have a son who lives in the house, who she starts to spend quite a lot of time. She has no contact with her life at home so sees herself as a new single woman. She starts to realize she might be falling in love with him. On her mothers birthday she decides it is only polite enough for her to ring her so she does. Having access to 100000 of emails, text messages and missed calls. On the phone her mum explains how stupid she has been, asks her what she is doing, but explains that the company realized that the mistake she did was because of someone else in the office not her. She would never of been asked to leave because it wasn't her fault. She sees her old life in a new life and tells the son. He goes mental at her for lying and cheating his whole family. He chucks her out and tells her he never wants to see her again. When she returns home she realises how happy she had become in her knew life. As a result returns at the end and apologises to all she has hurt.

Evaluation of Mood-Board 3

By looking at drama films the footage is all of a mixture of colours to represent that the drama involves lots of different factors. The dark colours represent the danger the drama could cause and the light colours show what outcomes the drama has on people. Castings are normally male and female with male actors being the protagonist saviours/heroes.

In my opinion I think me and marcia could recreate a dramatic film trailer to some standard. However, the most dramatic hollywood box office film involve stabbing, shootings and car crashes, for us this would be impossible to create with the equipment we have at school. We may look into combining the dramatic genre with another though.

DRAMA FILM GENRE MOOD-BOARD

I have gathered some research and information into the genre of a Drama film. The mood-board relates to all films that are classed under the 'drama' genre category where something happens to cause another character upset or danger.

Evaluation of Mood-Board 2

I have looked and created the Mood-Board for Romantic Comedy films. The films are mostly centered around 2 main protagonists; one female and one male, who eventually fall in love.  The movies have colours of pink and red that relate or provide a hint of romance. However, the comedy element is sown by the characters relationships. On film posters they are laughing or have a gesture that suggests humour.

In my opinion I feel as if Marcia and I would be able to recreate a trailer for a possible romantic comedy. This is because the characters involve people who we could already cast. The shot would need to show both romance as well as humour. The colours used for mise-en-scene are simple, eye-catching and relevant to the films. The genre could be portrayed very easily through the trailer if we cast the right people and include the right shots from the film.

Mood-Board 2 of a genre

Finally I have decided to explore the Romantic Comedy genre. From looking at different film posters I have been influence into the colours, characters and stories that are used.

Evaluation of Mood-Board 1

When looking at the different looks of horror movies it is obvious the are all intended to scare an audience. This is obvious because of the use of their dark colours. dark signifying the unknown and mystery which may scare and freak out audience members. A lot of red is used within the films to represent blood suggesting possible death, murders and gruesome injuries.
Characters that are used every day people to affect the audience more because they can imagine themselves in the characters shoes. They also include other characters that may not be real. for example a monster, clown or scary toy.

In my opinion I think it would be very hard for Marcia and I to recreate a horror movie trailer. This is because the intention is so strong. It must make the audience feel scared and create tension. The colours, costumes and shoots must be done to an extent that it will make the audience know the film will be scary and gruesome. It would be hard to make the trailer look realistic with people in danger and  getting killed etc.

HORROR GENRE MOOD-BOARD

For this post I have gathered a number of different images that put together the look and feel of a horror film. This will give me information into what a horror movie would look like and be about.

What is a genre?

A GENRE IS THE CATEGORY THAT A CERTAIN FILM, STORY OR BOOK WILL BE CATEGORIZED WITHIN. THE STORIES WILL ALL HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON AND THEREFORE BE CLASSED WITHIN A CERTAIN GENRE CATEGORY.

For example; Romantic Comedy genre films will all have a theme of love and humour with in the.
